Fucked Book—Inaugural Post

It's Fucked o'Clock Somewhere...

Fucked Book is a review site in which I focus on books that:

• are truly excellent, comparable to the top 5% of traditionally published work.

• have been fucked over by the publishing industry…

  • …preferably in the past five years.

That’s the concept. It’s not hard. I’m one person, so I’m gonna start at one review per quarter. Submissions will open in mid-August, and will be judged based both on the quality of the work and the degree of fuckage-over—the more absurd the story, the better. Some guidelines:

• You can submit fiction and nonfiction in any genre.

• The work must be available to readers for purchase or for free. It can be traditionally or self-published.

• The fuckage must be interesting—not just ordinary rejection stories, but something like an entire marketing budget being redirected to a publisher’s son’s bachelor party. I’ll waive this rule if the work itself is truly exceptional. I really don’t know what I’m doing.

• I’ll only review books I can write glowingly about. Rejection doesn’t mean your book was bad. A quarter with no winner doesn’t mean all submissions were bad. This is subjective shit and I’m kind of an idiot.

• Review focus will be 90% on the literary merit and 10% on the fuckage, just because I don’t want to get sued.
